about

Frank Schultz is an American improvising guitarist residing in Atlanta
Georgia. Frank is known for his performances using lap steel guitar for the past 17+ years and is the founder of Duet For Theremin And Lap Steel. Recently Frank has started using the bowed banjo to add new dimensions to his ambient sound. While Frank's newer solo material
is easy on the ears it will still please fans of his earlier material.

His upcoming release Blots is comprised of solo improvisations recorded May 2022 through January 2023 which Chad Radford of Radatl has described as "a drifting journey into cavernous and droning ambiance, where figure-like moments of inky and mysterious dark matter swirl and collide with glowing bits of the subconscious, settling into a sense of harmony and resolve."

Bolson, the first song on Blots is ambient drone bliss with an eerie vibe that like all good drone morphs ever so slightly to take the listener on a journey into a new sound universe.

Frank has in the past performed at Big Ears Festival, Slingshot Music Festivals, Joes Pub, Issue Project Room, Spectrum NYC, Orange Peel, High Museum of Art, Continuum Music Festival, and Memphis Concrete Music Festival.

Frank's musical career also includes (but not limited to) notable collaborations with Shaking Ray Levis, Richard Lainhart, Helena Espvall, Bill Brovold, Benjamin Shirley, and Helton and Bragg
